34-Piece Sewing Kit

I don't sew, but recently I decided to get into the stitching trend in papercrafting. I finally opened last year's Stitchmas calendar and attempted to stitch an image. I guess my fingers lack the dexterity because I found stitching hard to do. I selected this needle set so I could have an easier time. It's really inexpensive because it contains lots of needles plus other things. There is SO much variety in the needle sizes too, so I can use the one that works best with the image I'm stitching. This set came with needles, a seam ripper, and some other things. As someone who doesn't sew, I'm not even sure what they are, but the description says they are thimbles and needle threaders (which I really need to learn to use!)

This is a handy and useful little kit for those who struggle to thread a needle. First of all, it comes with a nice variety of needles in different sizes with smaller and larger needle eye sizes. They seem like durable needles that will last through a number of projects. The needles come with a helpful little transparent case for easy visualization and storage. The seam ripper is sturdy and always a helpful tool to have on hand to correct mistakes. The needle threaders and thimbles seem pretty flimsy and basic but should do the job. Over it's a decent value for the price.

I do a lot crafting and hand sewing thicker materials that require thicker thread. I'm also getting a little older and sometimes those smaller eyes on needles give me a fit. These needles are quite handy to have on hand. I haven't tried multiple layers of denim or upholstery type material yet but they have worked well through several layers of faux fur. I doubt I'll use the thread. Seems a little thin but you never know. The set also comes with a seam ripper (can never have too many of those) and a couple of needle threaders and finger thimble rings. The thimble rings are a little wide for my fingers but they look like could work. I love the needle case with cap. Now I'll be able to find them in my sewing box.

I'm not someone who sews a lot, just the occasional button or small repair. Kits like this sparked my interest with marketing about needle sharpness, i.e., if your needle isn't sharp, it can't penetrate fabric well. This is something I always struggled with, yet never gave a thought to needle quality. I expected needles from the hotel travel sewing kits of yore to perform like any other needles, so this was an epiphany. For me, these needles perform. I was able to pierce through denim and other thicker fabrics more easily than I've ever experienced. I find the threaders easier to use than traditional models (less thread slippage), but they are as flat as it gets, so good luck picking one back up when you drop on on a hard surface. The seam ripper, eh. The thread rolls - I'm no seamstress, seemed fine to me but I defer to the experts. The thimbles are kind of weird. I love having all of the various-sized needles contained in a small, clear, compact tube. Seems so basic, but it's a game-changer from pincushions and flat-needle-storage of yore. So, coming from a 100% non-expert, I'm very happy with this kit, even if I never use the thimbles. For $9.99, I think you can find the exact kit for less, but if you're in a hurry - go for it.

These needles are large and strong!! I kept seeing the ad for them and got tired of my small needles breaking when trying to sew things thicker so I finally bought them and wish I’d have bought them sooner!!!
